The Marshalltown Bobcat Swim team will head off to Iowa City today for State Swimming. Marshalltown is sending 3 relay teams and 3 individual swimmers in 4 events. 200 Medley, 200 Free Relay, and 400 Free Relay all qualified. Individuals who qualified are Charlie Gilbertson in 100 Butterfly, Lincoln Barker in 500 Freestyle, and Dane Petty in 500 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke. Petty set the school record at Districts in the 100 Backstroke.
The Marshalltown Bobcat boy wrestlers will have Districts this weekend and Coach Cross is hoping that the state qualifiers this year jumps from 1 to 7. Luke Hageman and Johan Gomez are both ranked in the top 12 at their respective weights and are currently the highest ranked Bobcats.
This week was National Signing day for high school athletes. Last night on Bobcat Live we highlighted 3 players moving on to the next level, Nile Christianson and Clay Goecke are both heading to Central College in Pella while Kunian Kuany is heading to Fort Dodge to play at Iowa Central CC. Speaking of KFJB-TV we will be airing the Girl’s and Boy’s basketball games tonight. Both teams play vs Waterloo East at home in the Roundhouse. There will be a special halftime presentation during the Boys game honoring Don Nelson and retiring #33 as well as honoring the 2008 Boys basketball team that Coach Mike Appel played for and beat the Little Cyclones lead by NBA player, Harrison Barnes.
