Marshalltown High School was home to the Iowa High School Speech Association’s Southeast Individual Districts on Saturday. High School students from across central Iowa form 33 different schools were here to compete for a chance to make it to state. Public Speaking is one of the biggest fears for people, having “home field advantage” helps our students feel some what comfortable on the stage. One of the unique things about speech is the different categories, spanning from reading pieces of poetry and pose to reviewing books, movies or albums and reciting original works of writing. 4 students qualified for state from Marshalltown, Riley Thede, Amiaha Weatherly, Nolan Sawtelle, and Michael Gill. They will head to the IHSSA Southeast state competition on March 11th at North Scott High School in Eldridge.
