There is a homestead exemption for those who are age 65 and older who own their own home.  Jarret Heil, Marshall County Supervisor, joins KFJB for Ask the Newsmakers to explain further how this exemption works.

Jarret suggests for people to contact or head to the County Assessors office.  The application is called, ‘The Homestead Exemption”.  This will be a savings of roughly $100 on your property tax, and it will build over time to savings of roughly $200

Military Veterans and those who are over the age of 65 that own their own home need to stop out at the County Assessors office.  They will be able to help you fill out applications to save money on your property tax.
