A Franchise Fee was discussed again at the Marshalltown City Council meeting on Monday, this was another hot topic for the public.  A Franchise Fee would be an additional 4% on your electric and gas bills.

That is City Councilor Jeff Schneider, he goes on to mention how the money would be allocated if the fee were to be implemented.

The City Council is looking to implement this franchise fee, while the public has been asking for an election on this issue.  There are people around town who are collecting signatures to take this issue to a special election.  It will take 250 signatures to force a special election.
