The List for Tuesday, July 10th 2023

Welcome to The List,

Things are heating up between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt regarding their French winery…She filed new court papers against Brad Pitt’s claim that he built their French winery business. Angelina says he is an actor, not a winemaker, and that he deals in illusions, the Academy Award winner said…not dirt and grapes….

The media is really invested in the box office battle between “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer”, which both open on July 21st.  Even though they don’t seem like they’d have any audience crossover at all.  But maybe that’s not the case.  AMC Theaters says that around 20,000 people who belong to their Stubs rewards program have already bought tickets to see both movies ON THE SAME DAY.

When Lainey Wilson performed on “American Idol” in May it was kind of a homecoming.  Strike that.  Let’s call it “returning to the scene of the crime”.  The crime is how many times “Idol” rejected her in the past.  She talked about it in an interview BEFORE the May appearance where we learned she got rejected SEVEN times!!  Never got past the first round…and “The Voice” didn’t work out either.

With Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Pt 1 in theaters tomorrow, The Daily Mail says Tom Cruise has his sights set on his next movie AND leading lady.  Margot Robbie. A source tells the newspaper,.Tom and Margot made ‘tentative plans’ to meet up and discuss the project when they return to Los Angeles,

The Country Music Association (CMA) has revealed performances featured in the 2023 edition of its annual CMA Fest primetime special, airing Wednesday, July 19th at 7 pm on ABC and the next day on Hulu.  The three-hour Musical Event of the Summer hosted by Dierks Bentley, Elle King and Lainey Wilson features can’t-miss collaborations and unforgettable performances that took place during the 50th anniversary of CMA Fest just last month in Nashville.

The List for Monday, November 25th 2024

Welcome to The List,

Game show host Chuck Woolery died on Saturday at his home in Texas. . . . TMZ reports that he went to lie down because he wasn't feeling well.

Chuck was the original host of "Wheel of Fortune" back in the late '70s . . . he went on to host the "Scrabble" game show in the '80s . . . and of course "Love Connection" from 1983 to 1994.

He also did some later shows, like "Lingo" on the Game Show Network, and "Greed" on Fox.

There's no word on a cause of death, Chuck Woolery was 83…

-----

"Billboard" put out their list of the Top 100 Country Singers of All Time . . . and some folks are less than pleased.  Specifically, because Taylor Swift was ranked above Brooks & Dunn, Hank Williams Jr., and Toby Keith.  Also, Jason Aldean didn't even make the list at all..what’s THAT all about…..

-----

Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes is making around $50 million a year.  But now, his wallet will be 0.03% LIGHTER . . . thanks to FINGER GUNS.

The NFL has fined Patrick $14,069 for the "violent gesture" he made last week, while celebrating a touchdown.  He'd just scored on Buffalo, and Patrick used both hands to mimic firing dual pistols.

Let's be honest . . . he wouldn't have been fined for mimicking a bow and arrow . . . throwing knives . . . or dramatically acting out the extremely violent "finishing moves" from "Mortal Kombat".  (Although that would be amusing.)

-----

Chris Stapleton and Brooks & Dunn are now tied with the most CMA Awards in history.  They have 19 wins each.

You can catch The List, weekdays at 4:20 with Jonathan Knight. Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
