Saturday the Marshalltown Police Department began an investigation after receiving notification that Carlos Flores Mendiola was engaged in sexual contact with an 11-year-old girl.  After many hours of an investigation, the MPD arrested Flores Mendiola for assault with intent to commit sexual abuse and indecent contact with a child.  Assault with intent to commit sexual abuse has a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and $10,000 fine while the indecent contact with a child has a maximum punishment of 2 years in prison.  The investigation is still ongoing and Flores Mendiola is currently being held in the Marshall County Jail.
