The Community Emergency Response Team, or CERT, works with emergency responders during disasters.  This team is a gap filler between the untrained citizen and the first responders.  There is a training for the CERT, or for people who want to be more prepared.

That is Kim Elder, Marshall County Emergency Management Coordinator, she says this training is offered at least once a year.  Those who take the training are encouraged to join CERT but not required.

Elder mentions that the only age limit is that participants must be 17 years old.  She wants to get younger individuals involved to have a better age distribution among her team.  The course is February 3rd and 4th, you can learn more and register by contacting Kim Elder.
