Last week a special ceremony happened on Thursday afternoon, the Iowa River Hospice celebrated 40 years of service!  The current Executive Director Shauna Callaway welcomed everyone to their celebration but the main speaker was Paula Rutherford who started Iowa River Hospice with Beth Weitzell, 40 years ago.  Rutherford and Weitzell started Iowa River Hospice because there was no end-of-life care in Marshall County.  Eventually the Iowa River Hospice was able to have the funds and land to build their own building which was done in 2009.  The Iowa River Hospice inpatient home is located at 502 Plaza Heights Rd. and has been a wonderful addition to the community.   Thursday night, the Iowa River Hospice held a ceremony and ribbon cutting to signify the 40 years of service in our community.
