During the holiday season many people will string up lights inside and outside their house. Marshalltown Fire Chief, Dave Rierson, loves holiday lights as long as they are hooked up correctly.  He talks about the new string of lights compared to the old style of bulbs.

Chief Rierson says to make sure that you’re using an outdoor rated extension cord when stringing up the outdoor lights.  Another warning from the Chief has to do with cooking a turkey.  It is important to measure the oil before you put the turkey in the turkey fryer.

When cooking in a turkey fryer, it is suggested to do it outside and away from your house on the driveway or out in the yard.
