Holiday Pack The Backpack Winner: Tina Richardson

The Holiday Edition of Pack the Backpack is presented by Central Office Supply, a division of Minuteman, generous employees at Lennox Industries in Marshalltown and Kix 101.1! Each Wednesday during December, we will be awarding $101 to a Kix Country classroom to help out with supplies.

Our latest winner for Holiday Edition of Pack the Backpack is Tina Richardson – Junior High Special Needs Teacher @ Southeast Polk Junior High.  She was nominated by Courtney Braden, Courtney wrote: Mrs. Richardson is one of the most caring and inspirational teachers. It takes a special person to guide and mold an autistic child or non-verbal child. She has a tough job, but you can tell how much she loves it and the kids that she works with – she’s even hand delivered a Christmas gift in the middle of a blizzard and sent postcards on her vacation to her students. The kids really look up to her and love to hear from her. She doesn’t ask for anything in return but is always sending notes to the parents also just so we know how our kiddos are doing. We couldn’t ask for a better teacher to help guide our kids. My son has even joined the football team because of the influence Tina has had on him. She is beyond words wonderful and deserves all the recognition we can give her!!

I believe if Tina had a say, she would say nothing because the kids bring her the most joy! I personally think that she would love anything that could use with the kids. She provides a safe and comfortable environment that is quite cozy, so anything that would help with that would be great for her.

Take a listen to our surprise interview with Tina Richardson
