M.I.C.A., which stands for Mid Iowa Community Action, is a local Non-profit that helps with many different issues in our community. They are the organization that helps individuals with a federal program called LIHEAP. Robyn Belden, Family Development Director for M.I.C.A., explains what LIHEAP is.
LIHEAP is part of the overall energy assistance program; it is focused on the winter months. Belden mentions that to qualify your household needs to be at 200% of the poverty line. She next talks about how families can apply.
Belden says that they can start the process over the phone or in person as well. The main M.I.C.A. building in Marshalltown is at 1001 S 18th Ave.
