One topic of discussion at last nights special city council meeting was on valuations. The city council called for another special meeting on February 5th due to budgets and getting some information late from the county.
That is Marshall County Auditor/Recorder Nan Benson taking the blame for valuations being late. The city then began looking at the general fund and how to balance the budget for the next fiscal year. Currently the budget that was reviewed last night has a $1.1 million deficit, but there are some creative ways to balance that. This first budget does include all levies that the state will take away. Levies for the Library, Municipal Band, and MACC
