The Marshalltown City Council called for a special meeting last night after their meeting on Thursday last week.  The special meeting last night had a resolution of appointing an interim City Administrator, the candidate was Police Chief Mike Tupper.  Last week, his qualifications were questioned, so he took to the podium and shared his qualifications.

After speaking about his qualifications, he then moved to the meeting last week.  Chief Tupper was shocked by the things said in the Council Chambers.  City Councilor, Gary Thompson, shared that he had former officers who would speak out against Chief Tupper.

This led to Chief Tupper saying this after his 5 minute speech

That leaves the City Administrator work to fall onto Mayor Joel Greer.  Who stated this as Chief Tupper walked back to his usual spot.

Mayor Greer has told me that his job as a lawyer is winding down and he has more time to give to the city in an Interim City Administrator position.  The Council decided to table the search for now, to let things cool down.  The council will most likely use a search firm for the next City Administrator.
