Coming up on March 5th will be a special election and many of the topics will be about taxes. One of those taxes being voted on is Local Option Sales Tax, sometimes referred to as LOST. Police Chief Mike Tupper, who has been working for government for over 30 years, explains why we are heading to the polls.

Roughly 75% of the LOST dollars goes towards property tax relief, while roughly 25% goes towards Council Designation Fund. This fund is then used throughout the year to pay for different items the city may be short on, or when things pop up throughout the year not in the budget. The Community will vote March 5th
