During KFJB’s monthly Central Iowa Today chat with the Marshalltown Fire Department, a new voice was heard, Deputy Fire Chief Chris Cross.  Deputy Fire Chief was in because Fire Chief Rierson has retired and the city is working to fill that role.  Deputy Fire Chief Cross gives an update about the Fire Chief search, there were 2 finalist for the position.

Deputy Fire Chief Cross will have to cover 2 positions now as he is filling the role as Fire Chief in the interim.  He does feel confident he can manage it all, because of his great team.

Deputy Fire Chief Cross says this allows those captains to gain some leadership experience and learn about another position.  While the 2 candidates did not work out, Deputy Fire Chief Cross says they want the right fit, not just someone to fill the position.
