Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is gearing up to celebrate Soil and Water Conservation Week from April 28 to May 5, recognizing the crucial role of these resources in sustaining life and enhancing economic opportunities for Iowans. With over a dozen conservation programs available, ranging from forestry to wildlife and water quality, the initiative aims to engage various audiences, including homeowners, farmers, and youth, in learning about conservation and natural resource stewardship. Coordinated with the national Stewardship Week, ISU Extension and Outreach emphasizes the importance of community involvement in safeguarding Iowa’s natural resources. Extension specialists highlight programs such as the Iowa Master Woodland Steward Program, Master Conservationist Program, and Watershed Academy, which equip individuals with knowledge and skills to promote soil and water conservation across the state.
