Marshalltown Community College Provost, Robin Lilienthal, does not look like your typical gamer or video game fan.  But without her leadership and drive, Esports may not have happened at Marshalltown Community College.  A program that has won 3 National Championships in just 2 short years.

Lilienthal could see Esports popularity on the rise and decided this was the direction to go with young adults.  She was sold when a consultant said that it could also have academic value.

She made the announcement of the new Esports program at a faculty meeting, and a new faculty member approached her afterwards.

Goforth and Lilienthal had a great conversation that then took it to a whole new level.  Lilienthal raves about this program and all the success they’ve seen.  This has been another great way to recruit high school students to secondary education.
