The Iowa State Extension Office in Marshall County has created a partnership with almost every school in the county to have and care for a garden. Chelsea Llewellyn, Program Coordinator for the ISU Extension Office, oversees the Master Gardener program who help tend the school gardens.
Llewellyn says that her Master Gardeners help with the community gardens. The ones at the State Center Library, the Marshalltown YMCA, and across the street from the House of Compassion in Marshalltown
The Iowa State Extension Office also works with the students of Bobcat University to teach them about growing plants and food over the summer. They will have a program with each elementary school throughout the summer.
