The List for Monday, May 20th 2024

Welcome to The List,

This week in country history:  The first pandemic concert took place, with the audience sitting in small “fan pods” (2020) . . . and “Achy Breaky Heart” by Billy Ray Cyrus made its first appearance on the Top 40 chart (1992).

—–

Exciting news for NFL fans and “Swifties” alike…Taylor Swift was factored into the upcoming NFL season.  Her tour takes her to the stadiums where the Dolphins, Saints, and Colts play this fall, so the league had to make sure those teams were all on the road on those dates.

—–

A lot of country stars were at the ACM Awards last week.  But noticeably, there were quite a few missing.  Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen are superstar status, and don’t need to go to awards shows anyway . . . and Dolly and Garth co-hosted last year, but skipped this year.

—–

The great Dabney Coleman has passed away.  He was 92.  His credits included “Tootsie”, “9 to 5”, “War Games”, and the TV shows “Boardwalk Empire” and “Yellowstone”.

You can catch The List, weekday afternoons at 4:20 with Jonathan Knight.  Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1.

The List for Friday, November 22nd 2024

Welcome to The List,

Luke Combs was shocked to hear "People" magazine named him the sexiest 34-year-old on the planet.  He told a reporter that when he heard they put him on a list, he thought it was for eating the "most cheeseburgers."

-----

Keith Urban was doing an interview for a recent edition of Variety magazine when he said he has two sides to his personality. "I’ve got a dutiful, responsible, reliable side. And I’ve got this animalistic, wild, reckless, irresponsible, What does this button do?' side.  I constantly have to keep them both in check to make sure one side isn't taking more control than it should."

-----

Jay Leno recently suffered a 60-foot fall down a hill at a hotel resulting in injuries to his eyes and face that were left bruised along with a broken wrist.  Which has led to wild internet conspiracies that Jay has a “gambling problem” and debt collectors were sending a message…

-----

Lastly, remember Jussie Smollett? Well his conviction for allegedly staging a hate crime against himself has been overturned by the Illinois Supreme Court.  They ruled that he shouldn't have been prosecuted after making a deal with the D.A.
