The List for Friday, November 3rd 2023

Welcome to The List,

More Yellowstone programing is on the way…the latest news is that. If you’re waiting to see how “Yellowstone” ends, you’ve got a year to wait.  The conclusion of the fifth and final season won’t premiere until November of 2024…by then will anyone really care? And, as you probably already know, Kevin Costner won’t be part of it. Two new “Yellowstone” shows have been announced though:  A new prequel called “1944”, and a modern-day spinoff called “2024”.  There are already two prequel series, “1883” and “1923”.  Are you keeping track? Who’s naming these shows, Taylor Swift?

Dolly Parton told “The Hollywood Reporter” that she’s been asked several times to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show, but she says no because her concerts are not big productions.  But that might change with her upcoming “Rockstar” album.  She “could do a production show” around that.

Geo TV says Prince Harry allegedly sees himself as Matthew Perry’s character ‘Chandler’ from ‘’Friends’’. Funny, no one else does…but he says he relates to Chandler’s personality and claims to be ‘just like Chandler’ in his memoir, ‘’Spare’’. Prince Harry watched ‘Monica and Chandler’s Wedding’ while folding his underwear.

Mariah Carey is leaning into this whole “Queen of Christas” thing.  Yesterday she unveiled a brand new Christmas shirt. It has a picture of her on it, with the phrase “It’s Time!”.  She’s selling it on Amazon, along with some other Christmas merch.

It includes her Christmas Funko Pop, a deluxe edition of her “Merry Christmas” album, and her children’s book“The Christmas Princess (The Adventures of Little Mariah)”. . . which came out last year. On a slightly different note, Mariah is also the star of Victoria’s Secret’s new holiday campaign.

—–

Garth Brooks will headline the first-ever “Amazon Music Live” special on November 24th, which is Black Friday.  He’ll be performing live from the grand opening of his new ‘Friends in Low Places Bar and Honky-Tonk’ in Nashville.  It’s a pretty small venue, so he didn’t make tickets available.  But you can watch it live for free exclusively on the Prime Video app and the Amazon Music Channel on Twitch.  (You do NOT have to be a Prime member.)

—–

Did you know that Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt were making a movie based on that old Lee Majors TV show “The Fall Guy”?  Well, they did . . . and now there’s a trailer.  (WARNING:  The video contains profanity.)

You can catch The List, weekdays at 2:20 and 4:20 on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1

The List for Thursday, December 18th 2025

Welcome to The List,

The Oscars are officially breaking up with ABC and moving in with YouTube. Starting in 2029, the Academy Awards will stream on YouTube, along with all the red-carpet chaos, through at least 2033. ABC still gets the show through the 100th Oscars in 2028, but after that, no channel flipping — you’re clicking a link.

Don’t expect to see Michael Bublé back in the spinning chair next season. He says he’s done with The Voice after dealing with online backlash and missing his family. An insider says the negative comments really took a toll, even though he loves the show and the crew. Sometimes the smoothest crooner in the room just wants to go home and be Dad.

-----

Blake Shelton shared the first time he brought Gwen Stefani home to Oklahoma and it blew her mind. Gwen, raised in Anaheim, saw Blake’s land and asked, “You own this?” Then she spotted a creek and said, “You can have that?” She thought rivers only came with national park admission. Blake called it one of the joys of his life. City girl meets country acreage…

-----

Morgan Wallen is now the highest-selling country artist of all time. He just picked up 80 new certifications and officially crossed 240 million units sold. Luke Combs comes in at number two, Garth Brooks at number three. Let that sink in. Skipped awards shows, topped streaming, and now sits on the mountain. Morgan let the numbers do the talking and they did….loudly.

You can catch The List, weekday afternoon at 4:20 with Jonathan Knight. Only on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1
