The List for Monday, February 21st 2022

Welcome to The List,

Kelly Clarkson wants to legally change her name and filed paperwork in a Los Angeles County court to do just that, using her middle name versus her sur name so ‘Kelly Brianne’.  The reason?  She says, “It more fully reflects who I am” A hearing on the matter is scheduled for March 28th.  The petition comes amid a bitter divorce battle between HER and Brandon Blackstock. After nearly seven years of marriage….

Today is Presidents day… Brad Paisley’s has a favorite President and it would have to be Abe Lincoln  “Abraham Lincoln for me is the great emancipator, and what amazing guy he was. I also liked Truman. I think Truman was a really good example of a President that was underappreciated, he had the hardest decision of all…and seemed to be from all accounts, a pretty good guy too.”

ALEC BALDWIN swears he didn’t pull the trigger on the gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie “Rust”.  And now there might be evidence to back him up. Santa Fe District Attorney did some “unofficial” testing of the gun in question.  And said, quote, “You can pull the hammer back without actually pulling the trigger and without actually locking it and then if you let it go, the firing pin can hit the primer of the bullet.” An FBI analysis of the weapon is still pending. Still doesn’t answer WHY the gun was out of it’s holster were it was placed…AND not pointed in a safe direction…

Someone did some pretty impressive research to determine just how hefty Norm’s bar tab would have been on the TV show “Cheers”.  It was estimated Norm drank 10 beers a day… both the average price of beer over the years AND several clues from the show about how much a beer cost at Cheers at various times brought the final tally to $124,406.90. without tip….

JON PARDI has been working on his next album, which will be out later this year.  What can we expect?  At least one love song, a few “she’s leaving and we’re moving on songs” . . . and “definitely a lot of drinking songs.” And sad news to report, MIRANDA LAMBERT is mourning the loss of her longtime guitarist and very good friend, Scotty Wray.  He passed away on Friday after battling heart issues.  Scotty is also the brother of Collin Raye

You can catch The List, weekdays at 2:20 and 4:20 on Iowa’s BEST Country KIX 101.1

Coco and Leila 4/1/2025

Our KIX Critters of the week are two cats who have found they like to hang around each other. Coco and Leila.

Leila is a  sweet and playful cat who loves to spend her time chasing her favorite mice toys and snuggling up in her cozy bed. She enjoys having space to roam around and explore, but her favorite moments are when she gets some chin scratches – they’re sure to make her purr! She’s not too fond of being picked up, but Leila is a friendly, affectionate girl who loves attention and will happily hang out with you once she feels comfortable.

Coco

Coco is a sweet and playful 2-year-old cat She enjoys spending her time with her favorite scratchers and cat trees, and she’ll appreciate a cozy perch to call her own!

While she’s cat-friendly, Coco can be a bit selective with her feline friends, so she’ll do best in a home with either no other cats or with other laid-back cats. She’s also good with children, but she thrives in a calm, adult environment where she can relax and build trust. Coco loves to play, especially with balls, and she’ll entertain herself for hours. When it comes to affection, she has a special way of showing her love—giving sweet little “love nibbles” and gentle licks. Her soft meow will melt your heart every time.

Our KIX Critters are two for one!! total adoption fee $50!! that includes everything including the microchip. Find out more

The List for Monday, March 31st 2025

Welcome to The List,

Will Smith is back — THIS time, dropping beats instead of slaps! His new album, ‘Based on a True Story’, kicks off with the track "Int. Barbershop — Day," where he declares: "Will Smith is canceled." Then he hints it's because of his skin color… which is an interesting take, considering, well… 2022 Oscars, anyone? Maybe the cancellation had a little more… punch to it.

Morgan Wallen Pulls a Houdini on SNL—Poof, He's Gone! Morgan Wallen caused a stir by making an early exit from Saturday Night Live. During the traditional end-of-show goodbyes, Wallen hugged host Mikey Madison, then pulled a classic Irish exit—vanishing offstage before the credits even rolled. Fans were left wondering if he had a pressing engagement or just really, really wanted to beat the traffic. Moments later, he posted a photo of a plane with the caption, "Get me to God's country." Guess when Morgan says, "Last Night", he means right now!

The quest to find country music's hottest man continues. Trying to find that country artist is serious business—like, tractor-stuck-in-the-mud serious. And after some jaw-dropping upsets, we're down to just eight country legends battling it out!  In the New School Bracket: Scotty McCreery vs. Warren Zeiders and  Jackson Dean vs. Riley Green.  In the Old School Bracket: George Strait vs. Alan Jackson and Tim McGraw vs. Keith Urban.  These matchups are tighter than skinny jeans at a honky-tonk. May the best boots win!
